Starting from the very beginning.
When I entered college, I had my whole four years planned out, thinking I would pursue a Biochemistry major. However, after two years, as I progressed through my coursework, I realized I had other interests outside of science. I was drawn to advancing my professional personal skills and blending them with the applications I have already learned in science. This caused me to shift my focus - earning a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration and then pursuing a Master's in Nursing - to achieve my long-term goal of opening my medical spa.
Discovering my "Why"
I have always felt a strong belonging in studying sciences and healthcare, but I began to think something was missing. I wanted to have professional conversations with patients, understand my business finances, and learn how to market to ensure I meet my business goals. None of these goals were being met with simply just a science major. Combining a major in Business Administration, a minor in Chemistry, and a Master's in nursing, I will be able to become the well-rounded health professional I always dreamed of being.
How Business and Nursing Work Together
They may seem like the most unrelated fields, but business and nursing complement each other in many ways.
Leadership: Managing a team of healthcare professionals will help the business operate more efficiently and foster a positive working environment.
Problem-Solving: My experience analyzing challenges in business situations and developing solutions in science will help me manage the negative complexities that arise.
Communication: The ability to communicate clearly while empathically with clients, staff, and partners will help me in my future business.
Why I want to be a Nurse:
Pursuing nursing has always been a passion of mine. I strongly desire to help others by providing hands-on, personalized care. Nursing offers countless opportunities for specialization, which is intriguing to me as I can change when other things are needed before settling down in my medical spa.
Embracing the Journey!
